My name is Sydney, but my friends call me Syd

I attempted a Biology degree for 1.5 years before realizing my extroverted nature and switched to Marketing. I was raised to believe my voice mattered. To ask questions, be passionate, and never settle for mediocre.

My greatest happy place is among people. The connection, the stories, the ability to learn so much from someone completely random - it sets my soul on fire. Beyond my 9-5 I'm so much more.

I'm an ideas girl. An over achiever. Give me the big scary goals and I will find a way to make them happen. I'm a people person. A connector. A wanderlust. A learner. A daydreamer. A believer in the power of laughter. I find creativity and breakthroughs when I'm in the car with a cold brew (coffee) in hand. My brain is never truly off.

I believe that most good stories started with a bad decision. That we should take the trip. Send the message. Celebrate all the BIG little things. Cheer the loudest in the crowd. Be authentically imperfect and embrace it.

Life is short. It's time to live extraordinarily, break the rules, and find your spark. Consider me your new internet bff.

Looking Back

This site was launched in December, 2020 only 2 weeks after I submitted my last undergrad exam from my parents dining room table (thank you COVID). I was looking for a creative outlet, a corner of the internet that I could deem my own before I packed up my car for a road trip. Little did I know it would still be up 5 years later.

Tales of the Road

In my search for insight, wisdom, and a little adventure, I had conversations with more people than I could possibly document. I was introduced to people's family, friends, children, pets (okay they didn't talk much, but still). I was (and still am) so incredibly honored and grateful for the hospitality, time, and shared moments. For the way this site became a space for me to debrief and document my favorite nuggets from along my journey. The combination of these stories became known as my Road Trip blog.

So Now What?

Some combination of nostalgia, a need for a creative outlet, and a deep rooted craving for connection, brought us back here. In the same place. 5 years later. Life looks different; I've moved, changed jobs, expanded my hobbies, and I'm even a cat person (!!). While I'm not living out of bins in my car these days, there are still so many moments I want to hold onto and words bouncing around in my brain just begging to be put onto a page. Having never taken down this site was a sign that I'd be back, only this time, the only crazy adventure I'm on is the one called life.
